Your long-standing dedication to advancing the dental care industry has earned you the distinction of being the 127th president of the American Dental Association. After receiving your degree from Temple University School of Dentistry you became a general dentist from Wilmington, Delaware. You have been a member of the Delaware State Dental Society since 1954 and have served as president of the Society and concerned yourself with studies on Dental Manpower, Dental Health Care Delivery Systems, Peer Review Mechanisms and Preventive Dentistry. You served for six years as the ADA Fourth District trustee, representing member dentists in three states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Panama, the Virgin Islands and the Federal Dental Services. You also served as a member of the ADA Dental Health Care programs and as the ADA delegate to the Federation Dentaire Internationale, you represented the United States in the worldwide dental organization. Your concern for proper dental quality assurance has led you to be a consultant to numerous Universities in establishing student curriculums. Your involvement in dental care health programs led you to be appointed to the Delaware Comprehensive Health Planning Council where you served on the advisory board to the Delaware Governor and the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services for several years. As president of the ADA, you are encouraging professionalism and ethics in the practice of dentistry. For your noteworthy involvement in the advancement of dental care in America, the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry is proud to confer upon you an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree.
